Jessica Kern, BSN, RN, CEN

Emergency Department, Staff Nurse 4-P

Jessica Kern has been a cornerstone of the Boone Health Emergency Department since 2014, bringing nearly 11 years of dedication, expertise, and heart to her role. With a total of 13 years in emergency nursing, Jessica began her career at Audrain Medical Center before joining Boone Health, where she’s remained a passionate advocate for patient care and nursing education.

Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Central Methodist University and an Associate Degree in Nursing (AND) from Moberly Community College. She’s a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) and carries multiple certifications. She also teaches Trauma Nursing Core courses and is working toward her Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course instructor certification.

In addition to her role as Staff Nurse 4-P, Jessica serves as a Charge Nurse, Preceptor, and Graduate Nurse Mentor. She chaired the Education Committee, leading hands-on training in emergency procedures and has been nominated for several awards, including the Nursing Education Award (2024 & 2025) and Professional Excellence in Nursing Innovation (2023). She was also part of the Team Daisy Award-winning group in 2023.

Jessica’s passion lies in education—whether it’s mentoring new nurses, teaching classes, or empowering patients and families. Her goal is to expand nursing education at Boone Health through new classes, conferences, and skill-building events. When asked about the favorite part of her job, Jessica responded “my favorite part of my job is the education – to staff, to patients and to families. I am a skills-heavy nurse, and I love being able to impart that knowledge to others. I’ve spent years learning all that I can in Emergency Nursing and applying those skills.” She adds “if I can share that knowledge with even one member of the healthcare team, it’s been a successful shift!”

Outside of work, Jessica enjoys golfing with her husband Jeff, working out, crafting with friends, and practicing Yoga Nidra.

Thank you, Jessica, for your unwavering commitment to excellence and education in emergency nursing!
