Boone Health earns renewal of Level I STEMI Center designation, reinforcing commitment to exceptional heart attack care
Boone Health maintains the highest level of heart care while earning recognition as the state’s top hospital for the lowest readmissions rates and a Top 100 Socially Responsible Hospital.
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Boone Health has successfully completed its renewal survey and received redesignation as a Level I STEMI Center by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS), reaffirming its ability to provide the highest level of care for patients experiencing severe heart attacks.

The Level I STEMI (ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) designation recognizes hospitals that meet rigorous standards for the rapid diagnosis and treatment of the most serious types of heart attacks. To maintain this designation, hospitals must undergo a comprehensive review process every three years.
The redesignation adds to a growing list of recent recognitions for Boone Health. Recently, Boone Health was recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as the top hospital in the state and the only hospital in the mid-Missouri region with the lowest hospital readmission rates. Nationally, Boone Health was recognized as a top 100 hospital for its low readmission rates, which measure how often a patient is readmitted within 30 days for the same condition. The recognition further highlights the organization’s commitment to quality outcomes and patient-centered care. This is especially critical given Boone’s redesignation as a Level I STEMI center.

Ranked among more than 2,700 acute care hospitals nationwide, Boone Health was recognized as the third most socially responsible hospital in Missouri. The rankings measure hospitals on factors such as clinical outcomes, patient satisfaction, patient safety, cost efficiency, avoiding overuse of healthcare services that are more likely to harm patients, resources the hospital uses for financial assistance and other community health initiatives, inclusivity, and pay equity throughout the organization.
