Finale event for Kids on Track is Thursday, August 8

The finale event for the 2013 Kids on Track program will be Thursday, August 8 at the Gordon Shelter at Stephens Lake Park.

Beginning at 5 p.m., participants can pick up their t-shirts and enjoy fun activities such as face painting, bounce houses, an obstacle course, snow cones and more. The kids will run their last 1.2 miles at 6:10 p.m., enjoy a nice BBQ dinner with their family and then have a chance to win one of many prizes.

Many local businesses and organizations helped sponsor Kids on Track, offering incentives and prizes to kids as they reached checkpoints on their way to 26.2 miles. Among the sponsors, are: ARC; B & B Bagel; Bob McCosh Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, Inc.; Chuck E. Cheese; Dairy Queen; Empire Roller Rink; Going Bonkers; HyVee; Lazer Lanes; Missouri Heart Center; The Little Gym; Twaddle Orthodontics and WELLAWARE.

“This year we saw a record number of participants and we can’t wait to cheer on these kids as they complete their summer of healthy activity,” said Jeff Zimmermann, Health Promotions Manager. “We know that exposing our youth to exercise at an early age can create positive habits for the rest of their lives.”
