Boone Health completes upgrade to Hologic Genius 3Dimensions mammogram machines across all locations

Boone Health upgrades to Hologic Genius 3Dimensions mammogram machines

Boone Health officials recently flipped the “on” switch to three state-of-the-art Hologic Genius 3Dimensions mammogram machines, bringing the latest in high-definition mammography technology to the community. With two new units at the Harris Breast Center and one at the Nifong Medical Center, Boone Health has now completed a comprehensive upgrade, replacing all of its mammogram machines with these advanced systems.

The introduction of Hi-Definition (Hi-Def) imaging enhances the clarity and sharpness of mammogram images, allowing radiologists to detect even the smallest abnormalities with greater confidence and precision. This upgraded technology is expected to aid significantly in early cancer detection.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer high-definition mammography for all our patients,” said Dr. Terry Elwing, radiologist and director of the Boone Health Harris Breast Center. “This upgrade aligns with our commitment to providing the highest standard in breast care, using innovative technology to enhance the screening and diagnostic experience.

The Hologic Genius 3Dimensions mammogram machines feature advanced 3D imaging technology, which captures multiple layers of breast tissue from different angles. This allows radiologists to examine breast tissue layer by layer, reducing the chance of overlapping tissue obscuring abnormalities and improving accuracy in diagnosis.

These advanced machines are also designed to accommodate a diverse range of patients, making them accessible for individuals of different ages and breast densities. For example, the Hologic Genius 3Dimensions machines feature the SmartCurve™ Breast Stabilization System that 93% of women have reported increased their comfort during the exam. The technology and features of the machine reduce unnecessary callbacks for additional imaging, enhancing both convenience and peace of mind for patients.

“We are continuing our commitment to care for all of our patients,” said Brady Dubois, president and CEO of Boone Health. “The new addition improves comfort for patients while taking clear images, helping our doctors make informed decisions. By focusing on prevention, Boone Health encourages patients to take care of their health, and this shows our commitment to providing great care for everyone in our community.”

Boone Health’s investment in these machines underscores its commitment to delivering top-quality, compassionate care to the Mid-Missouri community. By staying at the forefront of breast health technology, Boone Health is helping patients feel confident in their care, ensuring that all patients benefit from high-definition, comprehensive screenings at both the Main Campus and Nifong Medical Center.
