Dr. Lana Zerrer named Chief Medical Officer for Boone Health
Zerrer, who is chief of staff at Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, will join Boone Health on April 7
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Boone Health President and CEO Brady Dubois today announced that Dr. Lana Zerrer has been named chief medical officer for Boone Health. Zerrer will start on April 7; she will succeed Dr. Robin Blount who will retire from Boone Health after serving for 38 years.
“We are very excited to have Dr. Zerrer join our team and continue the fantastic work and quality care that Boone Health is known for throughout mid-Missouri,” Dubois said. “She brings a significant amount of leadership experience that will enhance an already strong organization and help us as we expand our services to address the health care needs of the community.”
Zerrer joins Boone Health after having served as chief of staff for Harry S Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia since June 2010. Prior to that, she was director of the Primary Care service line and a staff physician at the hospital.
She also has served on the national Veterans Administration Physician Advocacy Council, which ensures physicians have what they need, including staffing and technology, to provide the best care possible.
“I’ve always been very impressed with Boone Health as my family receives our care here,” Zarrer said. “Their commitment to the small things – helping make a patient comfortable, being friendly throughout the entire process – leaves a lasting impression and makes a very big difference. Their national rankings of being a 100-best national hospital, a 5-star rated hospital by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and a Magnet-designated hospital confirm that commitment. My interactions with Boone Health have always left me with a feeling of personal care and friendliness.”
Zerrer holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Westminster and a medical degree from the University of Missouri, where she also completed her residency in Internal Medicine. Following her residency, Zerrer served in the Air Force Medical Corp, during which she was deployed to Kyrgyzstan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She is board certified through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
She has lived in Columbia since 1995.
