Boone Health’s Nifong Plaza celebrates 10th anniversary
The health campus has served more than 170,000 patients in its first decade
COLUMBIA, Mo. – While February is Heart Health Month, it’s also the 10th anniversary of Boone Health’s Nifong Plaza expansion. What began in 2016 as a primary care clinic with seven primary care providers, two therapists and five imaging technologists has grown to 10 primary care providers, two specialty providers for Rheumatology, five therapists and eight imaging technologists.
“Ten years ago, when Boone Health first opened our Nifong campus, the demand for health care was growing rapidly,” said Brady Dubois, CEO of Boone Health. “And that growth continues today as does Boone Health’s commitment to expanding our services and keeping mid-Missouri healthy as we have done for more than 100 years.”
In the first 10 years, providers at the Nifong campus have seen more than 170,000 patient visits while annual visits have increased by 40%. Therapy visits for physical, speech and occupational therapy have increased by 85%, and therapy services have expanded with therapy for pelvic floor concerns, chronic pain, and osteoporosis.
“As we have flourished, we’ve worked very hard to maintain our culture of caring, accessible, community care for mid-Missouri,” said Drew Wilkinson, vice president of provider and ambulatory operations. “We’ve been recognized for that care and workplace environment nationally, and we are dedicated to earning those high marks every day with every patient.”
Imaging visits have experienced the largest increase, growing 217% since 2016 to 10,394 appointments annually. The number of mammograms given has grown 64% to just under 10,000. The growth was accommodated with another mammography machine in recent years.
And there are plans for additional growth. Currently, the Nifong building has 6,500 square feet of unfinished space, which is being targeted for expansion in the near future.
“Every decision we make, every action we take is focused on the health of mid-Missouri,” Dubois said. “We work with our providers to understand the services that are in most need and then work as hard as we can to make them available here at Boone Health. We’re excited for the future and what we’ll be able to offer in the coming years.”
