Background

Dr. Hockman is a Missouri native where he stayed to build a career and a beautiful family. His special interest in helping people from a young age led him to his calling in medicine.

Dr. David Hockman completed his undergraduate studies and medical school at the University of Missouri in Columbia. He then moved to Kansas for his orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Kansas in Wichita followed by a fellowship at The Anderson Orthopaedic Clinic and Research Institute in Alexandria, Virginia. There, he focused on adult reconstructive surgery.

In 2003, the Columbia Orthopaedic Group recruited Dr. Hockman to continue “Moving You Forward” in hip and knee replacement surgery. Since that time, he has performed over 7000 joint replacements and has helped even more patients with non-operative care. Dr. Hockman’s goal is to glorify God by working to restore patient mobility and quality of life.

As technology continues to advance, Dr. Hockman stays on the cutting edge of innovation. He now offers outpatient total knee replacements at the Surgery Center at Columbia Orthopaedic Group where patients have the option of an overnight stay at The Lodge at Keene Street.

Today he and his wife, Sherry, are members at The Crossing Church and have three adult children. Dr. Hockman currently serves on the board of trustees for Coyote Hill Christian Children’s Home. Sherry was a stay-at-home mom for fifteen years and now owns and operates Hockman Interiors at the Parkade Plaza.

Dr. Hockman’s team includes:
Robin, NP
Sarah, Clinical Assistant

Excellent patient care requires an excellent team. Therefore, Dr. Hockman has Nurse Practitioner Robin and Clinical Assistant Sarah working alongside him — Robin for 18 years and Sarah for 13. Together they focus on meeting patients’ needs in a timely fashion with kindness and compassion. His team’s goal is to glorify God by working to restore patient mobility and quality of life.
