Background

Dr. Verbsky did his undergraduate degree at the University of Chicago in Fundamentals: Issues and Texts, a great books program, and received a Master of Arts in Classics from Washington University in Saint Louis. He remained in Saint Louis for his medical training, joining the Medical Scientist Training Program and completing a MD and PhD at Washington University, studying inositol metabolism in the lab of Philip Majerus. He completed his internship and residency at Barnes Hospital in Saint Louis, and his Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology fellowships at Washington University as well. During fellowship he worked in the lab of Colin Nichols studying the sulfonylurea receptor in the conduction system of murine hearts.

His extra-curricular interests include hiking, camping, Nordic skiing, biking, travel and fly fishing. He is an amateur mechanic and handyman and rebuilds salvage cars and BMW motorcycles for fun with his children.
