June employee of the month Nicole Lauer says she decided to go into nursing after giving birth to her son, Avery, at Boone Hospital 12 years ago.

Bruce Smith says, “A hospital building operates differently. There are a lot of things you have to take care of.”
Ten years ago, Bruce joined Boone Hospital Center as a mechanic in the plant operations department. His primary role is to provide regular, preventive maintenance to the sterile processing equipment in the hospital’s central services area and operating room, making sure that a multitude of machines are kept in good working condition, ordering parts, making repairs and quickly responding to any issues.

After being a nurse on Boone Hospital Center’s oncology unit for nearly twenty years, Gayle Hoelscher wouldn’t want to work anywhere else – in fact, she knew this before she started her first day on the floor. Gayle says, “When I first applied at Boone Hospital Center, it was specifically for a nursing position on the oncology floor.”
