Paramedic
Paramedic training is through the Boone County Fire Protection District (BCFPD). This is a dynamic, fast paced program that prepares graduates for entry level positions wherever paramedics are employed. Students will develop skills and professional approaches necessary to succeed in the field through extensive scenario and simulation experiences within the hospital setting as well as a capstone field internship where they will demonstrate their abilities to lead the prehospital care team while serving on an actual ambulance crew.
Classes
- Classes are hybrid (in class and online) and take place every other Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (pick one) from 8:30 AM – 5 PM at BCFPD Headquarters - 2201 Interstate 70 Drive NW, Columbia MO 65202
- The program consists of 12 months of didactic training plus an approximate 3-6 month field internship (250 ER clinical hours, 250 ambulance clinical hours)
Prerequisites
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification
- College-level Anatomy and Physiology course within the last five years or completion of BCFPD’s online Anatomy and Physiology for Prehospital Providers course
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS certification
