Boone Health announces new cardiology clinic
With some familiar faces, the Boone Health Cardiology Clinic will ensure mid-Missouri continues to receive the best heart health care
COLUMBIA, Mo. – Boone Health is excited to announce the opening of its new cardiology clinical practice with some familiar faces in familiar settings, while also bringing in providers new to mid-Missouri.
“This is incredibly good news for mid-Missouri and the tens of thousands of patients who rely on Boone Health for cardiac care,” said Brady Dubois, CEO of Boone Health. “In addition to hiring some familiar faces from the former Missouri Heart group directly into Boone Health, we have been able to hire new physicians and providers who bring with them the latest technology and treatment information available throughout the nation.”
The familiar faces who are providing care include Dr. Jerry Kennett, Dr. John Boyer, Dr. John Verbsky, Dr. Dan Pierce and Dr. Charles Tillman. Five advanced practice nurses – Kathi Lutz, Lauren Lenauer, Hillary Burks, Patti Kean, and Tiffany Lehman – who were formerly with the Missouri Heart group also have joined Boone.
Two additional cardiologists, Dr. John Best and Dr. Rai Shahjehan, accepted offers and will be joining the clinic in the coming weeks. Boone Health officials said they continue to hire and have several offers out to cardiologists who have applied from around the nation.
“We are incredibly excited about the future of Boone Health cardiology, especially as we are attracting cardiologists throughout the country,” said Lana Zerrer, chief medical officer of Boone Health. “Heart health is paramount to mid-Missouri, and patients can count on Boone Health’s cardiology team to continue to deliver some of the nation’s best health care in their own backyard. We look forward to helping our patients live their best life so they can spend every precious moment with their loved ones doing what they love.”
If patients have a scheduled appointment coming up, they will receive a call or email from a Boone Health patient representative to confirm the appointment or reschedule it. If patients don’t hear from Boone Health, they are encouraged to call the clinic at 573-815-LOVE (5683).
Additionally, Boone Health administrators noted the following:
- Doctors might be changing: While some physicians and providers from the Missouri Heart group moved to Boone Health, not all did. As such, the provider for certain patients might be changing. When Boone Health representatives reach out to confirm appointments, they will let patients know if their provider has changed.
- Prescription Medications: If prescription refills are needed, patients should first reach out to the new Boone Health Cardiology Clinic at 573-815-LOVE (5683). They can also connect with their primary care provider to order prescriptions until they meet with a cardiologist.
- Medical Records: All of the Missouri Heart records will be transferred to the Boone Health system.
- Location: The location of the clinics will remain the same. In Columbia, cardiology patients will be seen at 1605 E. Broadway (65201), Broadway Medical Plaza Building 2, Suite 300. Clinics in Mexico, Macon and Moberly will continue operations in their same locations as well.
