Spotlight: Transport Services
This week, we recognize Boone Health’s Transport Services team and the impact they make on patients, families, and our care teams.
Keeping Boone Health Moving
Keeping Boone Health moving takes teamwork, compassion and dedication, and the Transport Services Department delivers all three every day.
With a team of 20 dedicated transporters, this department plays a vital role in supporting patients, families, and care teams across the organization. From safely transporting patients to delivering beds, wheelchairs, carts and oxygen equipment where they are needed most, Transport Services helps ensure the hospital operates efficiently and patients receive timely care.
While much of their work happens behind the scenes, the impact of the Transport Services team is felt throughout Boone Health. By helping reduce delays between tests, procedures and discharges, transporters help improve patient flow and support high-quality care across nearly every clinical area
Supporting Patients and Teams
The team’s work goes far beyond logistics. Transporters are often some of the first and last Boone Health team members that patients interact with during their stay. Whether offering reassurance during a difficult moment, helping a patient safely navigate the hospital or simply sharing a kind conversation, the Transport Services team approaches every interaction with compassion and dignity.
“Our team is driven by compassion, teamwork and pride in being a dependable part of the patient-care experience,” the department shared. “We know that every safe transfer, every timely transport and every positive interaction directly affect a patient’s day.”
Transport Services also serves as an important support system for fellow employees by helping clinical teams stay focused on direct patient care. Through constant communication, equipment coordination and efficient patient movement, transporters help keep workflows running smoothly throughout the hospital.
Team Recognition
Among the many dedicated members of the department are transporters like Andy Cheper and Emily Stokes, who exemplify the spirit of Boone Health. Andy has been with Boone Health for five years and says his favorite part of the role is advocating for patients and supporting the care team.
“There are so many good people in this hospital that help me do my job well. Being able to go all over the hospital, I’ve gotten to meet a variety of people, and I truly love working here at Boone.”
– Andy Cheper, Boone Health employee since 2021.
Emily, a transporter and college student, says the connections she has built at Boone Health have made a lasting impact.
“My coworkers are some of my favorite people, and I really feel like I can count on them. I love getting to learn every aspect of the hospital, and I’ll take everything I’ve learned from Boone throughout my career.”
– Emily Stokes, Boone Health employee since 2025.
